HISTORY OF RICHARDSON MIDDLE SCHOOL

In 1965, the new Junior High was built and named after Robert D. Richardson, who had been the Superintendent of Oscoda Area Schools for the past eleven years. As quoted from the Dedication Program in 1965:

WE CHOOSE TO REMEMBER

Often men of strong will, who in their chosen field have dedicated their lives for great causes, go unrecognized until it is too late. We did not want to let it happen here.
We chose to remember!
Thus, today, we dedicate this Junior High School to
Robert D. Richardson, Superintendent of Schools for
eleven years, whose drive and devotion has made the Oscoda
Area School system one of the best in the United States.
We salute you, Mr. Richardson!
May this ‘’living memorial’’ in your honor be an
inspiration to each one of us.
Your determined dedication to get the best education for our children will not go unrecognized.
We chose to remember!
Oscoda Area Board of Education, 1965
