March is Reading Month: Reading is COOL!

         Reading Is Cool

During the month of March we read lots of books for March is Reading Month.  Our whole school was involved in reading.  Our theme was Reading is Cool. We read different kinds of books but also read many nonfiction books about the Arctic and the Antarctic.  Ms. Samotis told us if we read lots of books and learned some cool facts about the arctic we would get to make an I Spy exhibit on the stage.  We had fun reading and learning lots of cool facts!

The Igloo
We were “Chillin in the Igloo” in the gym for March is Reading Month.  For Reading Month we got to go in the igloo and read books with our classes and for enrichment time. The whole school collected over 1000 used milk jugs! Ms. Samotis made a frame for the igloo and began gluing them together. Mrs. Root, and Mr. Lovelace also helped her make the igloo.  When it was all finished Mrs. Taylor turned off the lights and took us in to see it.  It was really cool!  It had lights on the inside and it glowed! We had fun reading in it.

MOVIE REVIEW

Horton Hears a Who
I got to go see the new movie Horton Hears a Who on the opening night.  It was great!  I loved it!  My favorite part of the movie was when Horton’s little friends were following him around after he found the speck and put it on the clover.  The cute, little character, Katie said, “In my world, everybody is a pony and they eat rainbows and poop out butterflies.” I think everyone should see the movie.  I really liked it!
