Kindergarten Alphabet Books
Mr. Lovelace’s second graders are making an alphabet book for the kindergarten classes. The children lie on the floor and use their bodies to make the letters. Then Mr. Lovelace takes their picture and copies it on the computer. Then the  children will put the pictures together to make a book for each classroom.  The children can practice reading the ABCs by looking at their friends!

* Enrichment Specials *
This year we have something new at Cedar Lake School.  We have three enrichment classes for kindergarten, first and second grades.  Mrs. Root teaches Math and Wellness, Mrs. Taylor teaches Language and Performing Arts, and Ms. Samotis teaches Integrated Created Projects.  We like the classes very much.  This is what some first graders had to say about Language Arts.
         *Charlie Mayville, “I like reading the books for silent reading.”
         *Jewell Ann Sturk, “I like singing The More We Get Together, and learning the
           Signs.”
         *Nicole Griggs, “I like writing the leaf sentences.”
         *Abigail Thompson, “I like doing our interviews for the book.”

The Fish Philosophy
We asked our counselor, Mrs. Woods what the Fish Philosophy was all about.  She said all the students and staff at Cedar Lake Elementary are involved with this idea. The Fish Philosophy is each person doing their best at school and working together as a team to make our school a great place to be!   Each class has a fish puppet to remind them to always do their best.  No one wants to be the “stinky fish” in their classroom.  Kindergartener, Connor Parsons says, “that’s someone who behaves bad.”
