Our School Newspaper: We are writers and readers! Mrs. Taylor's Language and Performing Arts class is proud to present the first ever edition of our school newspaper. The students will interview people and complete a who, what, where, when, and why study on the projects happening around our school. Stories and original artwork will be exhibited. Other columns will include: jokes, birthdays, poetry. After the research is finished, the articles will be written in class. Children will edit and type these articles as part of Creative Projects Class with Miss Samotis. The newspaper will be available here on our school website and will also be distributed to classrooms. We are looking forward to this collaborative project and excited to become writers and readers. |

Why are fish so smart? What’s the hardest thing about falling out of bed on the first day of school? What do you do with a blue monster? Which schools have elevators? How do you catch a fairy?

The First Day of School Mom called, “wake up kids its time for school.” Heather was nervous. She found her backpack and lunch box and left for school. When she was at school she did not know what to do. She found her desk and sat down. It was time for the teacher to read a story. She read Little Red Ridinghood. After that it was time to color. Heather took out a purple crayon. Amey took it from her. Heather yelled, “she took my crayon!” six times! Then it was lunch time. At the cafereria, Heather sat next to Joe and Cathleen. At recess she played on the monkey bars. Then it was time to go inside. The class did silent reading. Heather read The Nervous Monkey. After reading that book Heather was not nervous anymore. It was time for math. She had gotten better at math this year. Now it was time to get on the bus to go home. Heather’s mom asked her how her day was. She said, “good!” She did her homework, practiced reading, and watched TV. Heather had a good first day. By Molly Priebe
