Welcome to Oscoda Community Education

Oscoda Community Education responds to the changing needs of our community by offering education and recreational opportunities to people of all ages.  We believe in the philosophy of life-long learning.


Otters Swim Club - competitive age group swim club for ages 5-18

      Otters registration and parent meeting will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the OHS Commons

Oscoda Wrestling Club - for students between the ages of 5 and 14

Oscoda Youth Wrestling  registration will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the OHS Commons. You  can download the registration packet, fill out the forms, and bring them with you on December 2nd. Registration fee is $40 pr wrestler. Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

High Points Kids Club

     A Character building program for students in Grades K through 6 - meets at RES on Mondays, 3:00-4:30 p.m. 

     5-week sessions throughout the school year 


Educational Opportunities  


 Summer Academic Review Programs - Oscoda Community Education will be offering two summer academic review programs to parents again this year.

Grasp Program - for students in grades K-8 correspondence program in reading and math. $27 for one subject or $47 for both.

Summer Skills Program - For the price of two movie tickets you can give your child a summer of continued learning. These are easy to use review books in Math, Language Arts, Foreign Language, Study Skills, Computer Keyboarding. Books are $17 each.

      Youth Basketball - for girls and boys in Grades 3 through 6 - Kirk Franklin - Coordinator

          Basketball Clinics November 1 - December 22, 2014 - $20 includes T-shirt

          Basketball League - January 3 - March 8, 2015 - No Charge - Practices on Saturdays, Games on Sundays

Enrichment and Leisure Time Classes

Yoga - Thursdays beginning October 16, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. Cedar Lake Elementary Room 10. $25 per month or $8 for walk-in. Instructor - Elizabeth McNichols, Harrisville Yoa, LLC. Yoga will be moving to Wednesdays beginning December 3, 2014.

Country Line Dance  - A great way to exercise, have fun, and meet new people - RES - Tuesdays, 6:30-8:00 p.m. - $2

Tae Kwon Do - Taught by Richard Roche, a 3rd degree black belt instructor certified by the International Tae Kwon Do Association - Mon. &  Fri. - 6:00-7:30 p.m. - RES MPR - $3

Karate - Taught by William Ratzlaff - Tues. &  Thurs. at Cedar Lake Elementary beginning November 18, 2014. Children 5-11 years of age meet from 5-6 p.m. Adults and children 12 & up meet from 6-8 p.m. Fee: $25.00 per month.

Golden Age Passes
Golden Age passes are available to district residents age 60 and up.  This pass entitles bearer free admission into all Oscoda Area Schools Atheletic events.

How to register for a Community Education Class:

Walk-in    Stop by the Oscoda Community Education office located in the Board of Education office in

Oscoda High School during regular hours:  7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.


School Closing

            In the event that school is closed because of inclement weather or mechanical failure, not Community Education classes will be held. Classes will be rescheduled.


Class Cancellation

            Most classes have a minimum number of participants to avoid cancellation. If a class must be cancelled because of low enrollment, we will make every effort to contact you.

 Refund Policy

1.       A full refund will be issued for any class cancelled by Community Education.

 2.  If you cannot attend a class as planned, you may request a refund. Requests for refunds for a one-time class must  be made 24 hours prior to the start of the class. Requests for refund for a series of classes must be made before the second class meets.

 Returned Check

 A $25 fee will be assessed for any check returned for insufficient funds, or for any check written on a closed account.
