Welcome to Oscoda Community Education

Oscoda Community Education responds to the changing needs of our community by offering education and recreational opportunities to people of all ages.  We believe in the philosophy of life-long learning.


Otters Swim Club - competitive age group swim club for ages 5-18

      Otters registration and parent meeting will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the OHS Commons

 Oscoda Wrestling Club - for students between the ages of 6 and 14


High Points Kids Club

     A Character building program for students in Grades K through 6 - meets at RES on Mondays, 3:00-4:30 p.m. 

     5-week sessions throughout the school year  - First session begins October 13, 2014


Educational Opportunities  

Little Picassos - Exploring art and self expression. You and your young child (infant through pre-school) are inited to join us and have fun creating and exploring different forms of art materials. Space is limited. Class will be held on Mondays October 20, November 3, November 17, December 1 & December 15, 2014. Instructor - Amy Gallahar. Registration fee $22 for 5 weeks or $5 for drop-in if space allows.


Recreational Opportunities

      Youth Basketball - for girls and boys in Grades K through 6 - Kirk Franklin - Coordinator

          Basketball Clinics for Grades 3-6 run October through December

          Basketball Clinic for Grades Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd run in November and December

     Cheerleading Clinic

For students in grades K-6 - OHS Cheerleaders will teach participants cheers in the OHS Commons from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on    Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, October 20, 21 & 23, 2014. Participants will cheer during the first half of the varsity football game against AuGres on Friday, October 24, 2014. Registration fee - $20 (includes T-shirt) Call 739-1431 to register.

     Middle School Softball - for girls in Grades 7 & 8

     Colt Football and Cheer Program

      For students entering grades 2-6 in the Fall of 2014. $35 Registration fee.      









Enrichment and Leisure Time Classes

Water Exercise - Structured water exercise class with instructor Ruth Armstrong - OHS Pool - Mondays and Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. beginning Monday, September 29, 2014 - $4

Open Swim - OHS Pool is available for open swim from 3:00-4:30 p.m. on Sundays October 19, November 2, 23, December 7, 2014, January 11, 25, February 8, 22, March 8, 22, April 19, 2015  - $3. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult

Yoga - Thursdays beginning October 16, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. Cedar Lake Elementary Room 10. $25 per month or $8 for walk-in. Instructor - Elizabeth McNichols, Harrisville Yoa, LLC.

Country Line Dance  - A great way to exercise, have fun, and meet new people - RES - Tuesdays, 6:30-8:00 p.m. - $2

Tae Kwon Do - Taught by Richard Roche, a 3rd degree black belt instructor certified by the International Tae Kwon Do Association - Mon. &  Fri. - 5:00-6:30 p.m. - RES MPR - $3

Golden Age Passes
Golden Age passes are available to district residents age 60 and up.  This pass entitles bearer free admission into all Oscoda Area Schools Atheletic events.

Walk-in    Stop by the Oscoda Community Education office located in the Board of Education office in

Oscoda High School during regular hours:  7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.


School Closing

            In the event that school is closed because of inclement weather or mechanical failure, not Community Education classes will be held. Classes will be rescheduled.


Class Cancellation

            Most classes have a minimum number of participants to avoid cancellation. If a class must be cancelled because of low enrollment, we will make every effort to contact you.

 Refund Policy

1.       A full refund will be issued for any class cancelled by Community Education.

 2.  If you cannot attend a class as planned, you may request a refund. Requests for refunds for a one-time class must  be made 24 hours prior to the start of the class. Requests for refund for a series of classes must be made before the second class meets.

 Returned Check

 A $25 fee will be assessed for any check returned for insufficient funds, or for any check written on a closed account.
