Welcome to Oscoda Community Education

Oscoda Community Education responds to the changing needs of our community by offering education and recreational opportunities to people of all ages.  We believe in the philosophy of life-long learning.

    High Points Kids Club

     A Character building program for students in Grades K through 6 - meets at RES on Mondays, 3:00-4:30 p.m. 

     5-week sessions throughout the school year

Educational Opportunities   

GRASP Program - Summer correspondence program in math & reading for students in grades K-8 - $27 for 1 subject, $47 for both. Registration form is due April 11, 2014.         GRASP registration form

Summer Skills Program  - For the cost of two movie tickets you can giv e your child a summer of continued learning. Materials available for Pre-K through High School in Math, Language Arts, Spanish, French, Study Skills, and Keyboarding. Cost of each book is $17. Recreational Opportunities

    OSCODA SWIM PROGRAMS 5K FUN RUN/WALK - MAY 17TH, 9:00 A.M. AT RIVER BANK PARK

     Registration fee is $22 if regisered by April 28th, and $25 after. Registration form must be postmarked by April 28,  2014 in order to be  

     guaranteed a race T-shirt.  Mail-in registration form

Enrichment and Leisure Time Classes

Lap Swim - Mondays & Fridays, April 7 through June 2, 2014, 3:15-4:30 p.m., $4 per day

Swim Lessons - Tuesdays & Thursdays, May 6th through May 22, 2014, $36 per child - Instructor: Jeff Rush

          Water Babies                 5:00-5:30 p.m.

          4 & 5 Year Olds             5:30-6:00 p.m.

          6 Years & Up                 6:00-6:45 p.m.

Water Exercise -  Water Exercise class is currently unavailable

Country Line Dance  - A great way to exercise, have fun, and meet new people - RES - Tuesdays, 6:30-8:00 p.m. - $2

Tae Kwon Do - Taught by Richard Roche, a 3rd degree black belt instructor certified by the International Tae Kwon Do Association - Mon. &  Fri. - 5:00-6:30 p.m. - RES MPR - $3


Golden Age Passes
Golden Age passes are available to district residents age 60 and up.  This pass entitles bearer free admission into all Oscoda Area Schools Atheletic events.


How to register for a Community Education Class:

Mail-in     Send your name, address, phone number, name of class, and registration fee to:

 Call-in      Oscoda Community Education at (989) 739-1431

Walk-in    Stop by the Oscoda Community Education office located in the Board of Education office in

Oscoda High School during regular hours:  7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  

School Closing

            In the event that school is closed because of inclement weather or mechanical failure, not Community Education classes will be held. Classes will be rescheduled.

 

Class Cancellation

            Most classes have a minimum number of participants to avoid cancellation. If a class must be cancelled because of low enrollment, we will make every effort to contact you.

 Refund Policy

1.       A full refund will be issued for any class cancelled by Community Education.

 2.  If you cannot attend a class as planned, you may request a refund. Requests for refunds for a one-time class must  be made 24 hours prior to the start of the class. Requests for refund for a series of classes must be made before the second class meets.

 Returned Check

 A $25 fee will be assessed for any check returned for insufficient funds, or for any check written on a closed account.
