"I love my job because it is always changing. Leading an educational system is such an important way to spend my life. I strive to give our students learning opportunities that they will need to be successful in life. In 1997, I set my personal motto: The opportunity to change even one life for the better makes me passionate about what I do! I am often asked what does a Superintendent really do. As the Superintendent, it is my job to set the leadership example and expectations for leaders, and in fact for all school district employees. I am responsible for educational programming, for contractual agreements, for financial decisions, and for creating a way to make things happen for positive change and for improvements in the educational program, in the facilities, and in the procedures. I am also responsible for ensuring that the rules and regulations set by the State and Federal Government are consistently adhered to. Basically, I am ultimately responsible for everything that every employee does at Oscoda Area Schools. Last year, I decided to begin pursuing a Doctorate degree in Educational Administration. I want to ensure that I am pushing myself to find out what the best educational programs look like and how to successfully implement them so that Oscoda students really will have the best learning opportunities that we are able to provide. On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Craig Beardsley for 24 years. I have two children that graduated from Oscoda Area Schools. Lydia is 23 and is a store manager at Catherine’s in Lansing. Andrew is 21 and is studying Business at Alpena Community College. " |

"One of the things I like about my job is that it gives me an opportunity to meet all of the new families that move into our school district. As the central registry secretary I conduct the new student registration. I enjoy meeting all of our new students and their parents. I LOVE working with Community Education. As program supervisor, I set up enrichment classes, hire instructors, and create the marketing for Community Education programs and activities. Another aspect of my job that I really enjoy is creating the School Observer. I like being able to brag about the accomplishments of our students and of our staff and to share with our community the wonderful things that are taking place in the school district! Finally, I have worked for the district for 19 years, and I am very excited about the changes that are taking place in Central Office that will offer me an opportunity to grow as a professional. On a personal note, I have two children. Both of them are native Owls. My son Michael graduated from OHS in 2004. He is studying Accounting at Saginaw Valley State University. My daughter Kimberly graduated from OHS in 2006. She also attends SVSU and is studying nursing. I am very proud of my children, and I believe that they received a very good education here in the Oscoda Area Schools." |

“This year promises to be an exciting year! There are so many changes going on with integrating Technology into the Core Curriculum, switching to a wireless WAN(Wide Area Network), Schools in Touch, School Messenger and many more projects. Communication is the key! We are always striving to find ways of communicating with parents and the community more effectively. I am proud to be a member of the Oscoda Area Schools Team!"

| “I have a Great Plant Operations staff that consist of Custodians and Maintenance People. The Custodians and Maintenance staff make our buildings clean, shinning, comfortable and safe for the return of our students and staff. They are the key to getting our buildings, grounds and athletic fields ready for any usage. These duties as well as preventative maintenance keep the Plant Operation's staff “hoppin”.” |
