Goal 5: To Provide the Community With the Benefits of Technology
Technology can enhance the operation of schools and offer more choices to students. Technology has turned out to be a major focus for educational service agencies across the state and nation. Collaboration with other service providers, business and industry are important in order to enrich technology resources in our schools and enhance learning for all.
Current collaborative efforts:
Partnership
for technology services and professional development with
Iosco Regional Educational Services Agency and Alpena, Montmorency & Alcona ISD work with the District on professional development initiatives.
School-To-Work partnerships with community/area businesses.
Several teachers are participating in the School To Work Internship.
Specific classes through Community Education program.
As result of the NCA Transitions Endorsement, careers are emphasized as part of the K-12 curriculum. Students work with businesses in the community learning about careers. Students develop an awareness of these careers and the education needed to obtain them.
Technology family nights during the school year at individual buildings. Parents preparing for field trips have participated in virtual tours through the use of technology.
As we pursue grants we are looking at Learning Communities with staffed media centers open in the evenings, weekends and summer for the community to use.

The Technology Committee has also established a goal of increasing collaboration with businesses, community and technology. The Technology Committee and District will accomplish this by:

Providing parents with information about the Internet, such as appropriate and inappropriate sites.
Making technology available for the community to further their education via the Internet.
