Goal 7: To Provide Funding for the Implementation of the Technology Plan
In order for the Technology Plan to be implemented, resources are needed for:
Technology Staff
Professional Development
Hardware
Software
Other Resources
Updated infrastructure
Oscoda Area Schools has provided funding for technology through:
Building budgets: site based decisions are made for software and support materials/supplies.
District budget for staff, professional development, network support, hardware and software.
District budget through the curriculum/textbook adoption process. Computer/Technology will follow the five year cycle the same as other curriculum areas.
Oscoda Area Schools will secure continued support to fund district technologies. This will be obtained by continuing to secure grant opportunities and establishing business contacts that may wish to donate technology equipment or expertise. Various sources are needed in order to fully implement this Technology Plan and future technology needs. Some of the sources, depending on the technology use, are:

Technology Assisted Instruction is now a permanent line item of the district budget. The Technology Committee, Superintendent and Board of Education are working on developing an annual plan and the budget necessary to establish and maintain installed technologies as well as additional ones. The budget must provide for the upkeep and care of equipment in a manner that demonstrates good stewardship of resources. All of this is based on available funding.
The budget projections are developed with the business office and all grants go through the Curriculum Office. This process assures no duplication of services. These technology projections include technology for office management resources as well as technology-assisted instruction.
The
District is pursuing grants on an annual basis.
During the 2004-2005 year the District used grant monies through:
Title I, Title II A, Title II D, Title V, Freedom to Learn,
School-To-Work, Library Services and Technology Act,
Technology was part of the current Bond Proposal. The election took place in September 2001. The Technology part of the Bond was for $1.25 million dollars to fund cabling, fiber, phones, computers, TV/VCR, power, and intercom.
NOTE:
Any hardware, software or supplies being purchased with building funds must be compatible with the District technology system. The purchases must also have the approval of the Technology Coordinator, or until that position is filled, Curriculum & Student Support Director and Technician, in order to guarantee that the Technology Department is able to support the items being purchased.
