Middle School Benchmarks
SIXTH GRADE
STUDENT
TECHNOLOGY BENCHMARKS
The
student will perform the following:
Discuss
the impact of technology on society.
Develop
a document and/or artwork using the Paint option (advanced application) ex:
Develop
and present a multimedia presentation using:
Scanner, Digital Camera and skills developed in previous grades.
Use
the internet and other online resources for research and communication to
demonstrate advanced Internet search skills.
Participate
in simulations using subject appropriate technology (Software or Internet)
ex: Maya Quest
Use
subject appropriate software.
Utilize
Relevance and Accuracy in online research.
Reinforce
and practice proper keyboarding skills, through lessons and using
keyboarding programs (i.e., Mavis Beacon).
Review
and apply K-5 Benchmarks for mastery and refinement.
Discuss
advancements in technology.
Demonstrate
knowledge of and comply with the District Acceptable Use Policy.
Develop
a word processing document that utilizes the cut and paste feature.
Review
and create a simple Spreadsheet.
Write
a school related e-mail with attachments.
Demonstrate
e-mail etiquette.
Review
Internet vocabulary.
SEVENTH GRADE
STUDENT
TECHNOLOGY BENCHMARKS
The
student will perform the following:
Demonstrate
mastery of all K-6 Technology Benchmarks.
Demonstrate
the appropriate use of the Internet including proper research techniques.
Demonstrate
a knowledge of and comply with: The
District Acceptable Use Policy, Copyright and Licensing Laws, follow
Internet etiquette.
Model
ethical, legal, safe and responsible behavior when using technology.
Use
word processing features to develop: Documents,
Reports, Letters, Import pictures and create pictures.
Development
spreadsheets using: Cells, Rows,
Cell formats, Row Formats, Column formats, Number Formats, Alignments,
Formulas, Graphs,
Develop
a multimedia presentation. Ex:
PowerPoint
Introduce
and use databases to collect research.
Use
appropriate teacher directed software and curriculum-based simulations.
Use
content-specific technologies such as: video
production, scientific probes, calculators, CAD, desktop publishing, writing
labs/reading labs, music/art technologies, Foreign Language labs, laser
discs, still and live video.
Reinforce
and practice proper keyboarding skills, through lessons and using
keyboarding programs (i.e., Mavis Beacon).
EIGHTH GRADE
STUDENT
TECHNOLOGY BENCHMARKS
The
student will perform the following:
Demonstrate
mastery of all K-7 Technology Benchmarks.
Demonstrate
more advanced features of word processing, spreadsheets and database
computer applications to produce an integrate product.
Continually
model ethical, legal, safe and responsible behavior in using technology.
Continually
follow Internet etiquette
Demonstrate
basic file management.
Use
content-specific technologies such as: video
production, scientific probes, calculators, CAD, desktop publishing, writing
labs/reading labs, music/art technologies, Foreign Language labs, laser
discs, still and live video.
Merge
digital imaging in a product or multimedia presentation.
Practice
electronic mail skills for communication for school purposes.
Use
appropriate teacher directed software and curriculum based simulations.
Use
the Internet to research and produce a product including:
Developing
search strategies for online searching to aid in the management and movement
of data.
Use
a variety of online resources (topic appropriate).
Evaluate
information obtained from web sites.
Organize
and analyze information in order to draw conclusions and implications.
Produce
a product from this research (multimedia presentation brochures, etc.)
Use
internet resources to create and save student career related projects (EDP’s).
