On Saturday, March 21, junior Alexander Burns traveled to Midland High School to participate in MSBOA (Michigan State Band and Orchestra Association) State Solo and Ensemble Festival. Although several Oscoda events qualified for this prestigious event, only Alex participated, as this year, it fell on the first day of Oscoda's Spring Break.
Alex performed the alto saxophone solo “Mélodie” by Simon Poulain, performed Major, minor, and a chromatic scale, and also sight-read for an expert adjudicator. His final result was 96 out of a possible 100 points, earning a Division I or "Superior" Rating.
Alex was accompanied by Melanie Bowie on piano.
