MS  Solo Ensemble

On Saturday, April 22 six Oscoda Middle School students traveled to Clare High School to participate in MSBOA (Michigan School Band and Orchestra Assocation) Middle School Solo and Ensemble Festival.  This was an adjudicated event with professional adjudicators evaluating students in the areas of Tone, Intonation, Rhythm, Technique and Interpretation.

Participants in this event could earn one of five final ratings; Division 1 (Superior), Division 2 (Excellent), Division 3 (Good), Division 4 (Fair) or Division 5 (Poor). Events earning Divison 1 or 2 ratings earn a medal.

Earning a Division 2 (Excellent) Rating:

Clarinet duet Carly Mongeau (7) and Elizabeth Brooks (8) performing the German Folk Song “Winter Has Passed” and “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” by W.A. Mozart and arranged by Elburz Sokrhabi.

Earning a Division 1 (Superior) Rating:

Alexander Clarke (8) trumpet, and Kaiden Wouters (8) clarinet, performing five short folk songs arranged by Elburz Sorkhabi.

Clarinet duet Elizabeth Brooks and Alexander Burns (8) performing “Marche" by Bartolomeo Campagnoli.

Tenor Saxophone soloist Alexander Burns performing Le Tambourin by Jean Philippe Rameau.

Snare Drum soloist Logan Heiden (7) performing “Comrades” by Forrest L. Buchtel.

Oscoda events were accompanied by Karen MacGregor on piano and were coached by Jim Sapp and Karen Lopez.
